Snow Monkey Park - Jigokudani Area - Yudanaka Seifu-so

The best place in Japan where we slept. Ryokan staff is simply beautiful, kind, very familiar ambient. They came to wait us to the train station without asking them, and they took us to the monkey snow park by car because it was raining! Japanese style breakfast was delicious (oishii!) and they have a private onsen where you can stay as long as you wish. A++

Wonderful atmosphere, great views and comfortable rooms. I would recommend it to any friends wanting an authentic experience of traditional Japan. Security is great, I felt safe at all times and the place was easy to find. Torii was my favorite attraction. It would be nice to have an English menu if at all possible, but the food and service was fantastic none the less. Would come again:)

Hida Takayama - Hida Gassho-en
Saturday, 29 May 2010 00:43

This is the best place I have been to in Japan. The welcome is very warm with a cup of green tea. Not all the staff speaks english, but they always get someone who can translate for you and they are very very nice. The place is a little bit outside the town, but they provide a shuttle service and on the other side it is close to the Hida folk village, one of the major sights around Takayama. If you don't like public bathing, try to get a room with separate shower.

Hakone Onsen - Hakone Suimeisou Annex

Fantastic location, right across from the train station. Room was perfect for me. Small and comfortable. Remember to ask for a nonsmoking room when you book as I forgot. But they sprayed my room with some nice smelly spray. The onsen upstairs is really beautiful and the best way to relax after a day in Hakone!
