A very tradional, spacious and comfortable Japanese style room with tatami matts and sliding doors. A good facility is a protected clothes drying area on the roof with hangers. The charming host has bikes available for very reasonable rates which are a very good option for visiting the temples and gardens of which some are a few kilometres apart.

Such an amazing place to stay. They put us on the top floor overlooking the river. Best room we have had so far on our trip. The staff was so nice. "You are so tall, that is so cool".

Kyoto City - Ryokan Wakamiya

Ryokan Wakamiya has a perfect location, less than 5 mins on foot from Kyoto station which is full of great dining options and shops! And was very easy to find using the map provided on the Ryokan website. Dinner was served in the room and it was a totally cultural experience which you must try! Breakfast was served in a common area but was very cosy and personal. The staff were very polite and friendly, a bit difficult to communicate with them at times but that adds to the flavour of a Ryokan.

The guesthouse has a warm　&　welcoming atmosphere.We really appreciated the hot drink and snack. Mika took the time to talk to us and give us valuable advice on the local area. The room was very clean and we were able to choose our yukatas. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the guesthouse and would love to come back again.

A wonderful Japanese experience. Breakfast truly delicious. Would definitely recommend to other people. Felt very safe. Enjoyed walking around the area. Staff extremely polite, welcoming and helpful.

Fantastic hotel for someone travelling alone and just needing a break from hostels. Staff were friendly but did not speak much English. Clean and excellent location close to he hakone yumato station!
